For users looking to access Midjourney, the official sign-in pipeline requires an external account authentication. It is currently not possible to create a standalone, native Midjourney account using a traditional email-and-password combination without linking it to a third-party provider.
However, you are no longer strictly locked into Discord. Midjourney now supports direct login methods on its dedicated web alpha/beta platform.
The Midjourney Login Ecosystem
Historically, Midjourney operated exclusively through a Discord bot. To generate images or manage your subscription, a Discord account was mandatory.
With the launch of the standalone Midjourney Web Editor, the platform expanded its OAuth (Open Authorization) system. When you visit the official login portal, you are presented with multiple authentication paths: Authentication Method Supported Platform Discord Auth Discord App & Web Alpha Legacy users and community-focused creators. Google Auth Web Alpha Only Users who want to completely bypass Discord.
How to Log In Without Discord
If your goal is to completely avoid using Discord, you can manage your generation queue and account directly on the web. Navigate to the official website at midjourney.com. Click on the Sign In button in the bottom right corner. Select Continue with Google. Log into your preferred Google account to authorize access.
This grants you full access to the web-based image generator, gallery, and subscription management system without ever needing to download Discord or join a Discord server. Is a Native “Email + Password” Login Available?
Currently, Midjourney does not offer a native email registration system.
The engineering team utilizes third-party OAuth (Google and Discord) to handle security, account verification, and bot protection. This eliminates the need for Midjourney to store encrypted user passwords or manage standalone account security infrastructures.
If you do not want to use a Google account or a Discord account, your options are limited to creating a burner/isolated account on one of those two platforms specifically dedicated to your Midjourney subscriptions.
